Saturday or Sunday?Maybe you've also heard Christians say, "we don't keep a Sabbath on Saturday because every day is holy". Ever hear that? Does that sound right? How can every day be holy? The reason it doesn't sound right is because it's a lie. Either these people are ignorant of Shabbat or ignorant of what "holy" means, but more than likely they are ignorant of both. Does one find Scripture that teaches "every day is holy"? No!!! It's most definitely NOT found in the Bible! It's a religious cliche' a status quote Christo-Pagan religious slur, a lie against the Word of YHWH and His Mashiyach! Search through all Christian translations of the Bible, you will never find this "theology" anywhere, it doesn't exist. It's a lie against the Truth. But it's a common lie, it easily comes off the lips of many people because "everybody says it". I've heard this from Jehovah's Witnesses, Baptists, Evangelicals and many flavours of Churchianity who meet on Sunday for church, or Wednesday night for Bible study and prayer, or Thursday etc. Christians think that just because they meet on a particular time for "church" or "worship" that they sanctify the day as "holy". NO. This is a lie. Apostle Paul said it this way; "He that esteems a day, esteems it for his Master; and he that esteems not a day for his Master, he does not esteem it..." (Romans 14:6). Apostle Paul observed Shabbat as did Y'shua and all the talmidim (disciples) because they were obedient, they lived Torah observant lifestyles. Notice that Rav (teacher) Paul clearly distinguishes "a day" and that each one "esteems if for his Master" so the question is WHO is YOUR Master? Do you follow Tertullian, Ignatius and Marcion, the Greek Church Founders who did away with Shabbat or do you follow Mashiyach Y'shua who is MASTER (Lord) of thee Shabbat? Who do you serve, a religion about YHWH or YHWH Himself? There is no way that the same G-d would institute Shabbat at Creation of the world, make it punishable by death whoever breaks it, and then break it Himself by saying that His own people can break it. If I truly believed this I would go looking for another G-d because anyone who believes their G-d would do this has a narcissist for a G-d! The Netzari (Nazarenes are the original Jewish followers of Y'shua) never assimilated into Western Greek based Christianity, it was fellas like Ignatius, Tertullian and Marcion who came up with the "Sunday alternative" to suite their Greek culture, this is historical fact. Sunday is the man-made religious shabbat of Christo-Paganism. The Catholic church of course credits itself for making the change and even goes as far as to say that all Christians who go to church on Sunday are under the umbrella of the Catholic church because she instituted Sunday as "the Lord's day" when Jesus arose on Sunday morning with the sunrise. Wait a minute? Christian Bibles say that while it was yet dark they went to the tomb and Y'shua had already arisen? (John 20:1) oops yet another lie. The fact is that Y'shua arose on Satuday afternoon before sunset otherwise he would not and could not have been in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights like he said he would. In fact Y'shua said that as Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights, so would he be in the tomb. Please understand that the truth is simple to understand but lies are convoluted and difficult to explain, so people have to go to seminaries and get PhD's to learn how to weave the age old religious lies against YHWH and His Mashiyach. There is that other thing that rises on Sun-day morning and that's the sun. Not s-o-n, but s-u-n, that big bright ball right over our heads that gives light and nicely warms our earth for us. SUN-day was called Sunday because of sun-worship and the Catholic Church adopted and assimilated many pagan traditions right into it's "Christian" worship. Sun-day became the "official day" of worship in early Greek and Roman Churches, but back in the Land (Jerusalem) and throughout Israel, the Churches of the East and all original followers of Y'shua (both Jews and Greeks) observed Shabbat for hundreds of years after Mashiyach ascended. The first non-Jewish convert who received the Ruach haKodesh (Set Apart Spirit) in Mashiyach was Cornelius (Acts 10:2) who was "righteous and feared Elohim." What makes a man "righteous" and given to the "fear of Elohim" is that he is not a pagan, he surrendered to Yahweh and he keeps the Commandments. There is no middle ground here, the Scripture clearly tells us that Cornelius was a righteous Gentile with the Fear of Elohim. So if we turn to Scripture we discover that Cornelius kept the Commandments. If we turn to Pharisees for their interpretation we find something entirely different. To be a righteous Gentile in the eyes of the Pharisees means to be a Noachide, or, come under Rabbinical authority and be a law breaker, there is a BIG difference between Rabbinical tradition and what YHWH's Word says about those who FEAR ELOHIM, rather than have the fear of man. There is a very large brazen rebellion against the Ancient Path, the Truth of Scripture. Everybody knows that lies get very complicated, Christians need scholars and PhD's to explain these very "difficult" things of Scripture, how their systematic theology of "Sunday" evolved. Lies get very complicated, but Truth is very simple and straightforward, for example: "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of Yahweh, honourable; and shall honour Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: Then shall you delight yourself in Yahweh; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it. Behold, Yahweh's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your Elohim (G-d), and your sins have hid His face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perverseness. None calls for justice, nor do any plead for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity." (Isaiah 58:13-59:4). It's sad how Christians spin this verse by saying that it only applies to "Israel" or "the Jews", but in the very next breath they will say that "we are Spiritual Israel." That's like someone saying that they're "almost a virgin", or "almost pregnant", no, you either are or you're not. You are either "Spiritual Israel" or you're not, and it's really not that complicated. To be Spiritual Israel or, "spiritual anything" it means that you have a spiritual connection that is based on "spiritual values", your core identity is not of the flesh but of a spiritual calling. If you are Jewish then you have a physically genetic link to Jacob and you may or may not be "spiritual Israel." If you're Jewish then by accepting Mashiyach and observing Torah you become "spiritual" otherwise you are known as "hiloni" which means "Hellenized", secular or "back-slidden" for lack of a better term. You are either "Spiritual Israel" or you're not! Interestingly enough there are some Christian sects who have learned that they can't call themselves "Spiritual Israel" and be disobedient to Torah, at least they are being honest in that regard, but then they turn around and become "Replacement Theologians." They don't call themselves "Spiritual Israel" but "the Church" and like the JW's who have "Kingdom Halls" they see themselves as "the Kingdom," but in fact the Kingdom of Elohim existed long before "the Church" (see Shemot/Exodus 19:6). And the problem with the JW's theory is that they've made their own kingdom rather than enter into the one that YHWH made in His Mashiyach Y'shua, there is a very big difference between the two. What a wicked web we weave when we learn how to deceive. There is only One Shabbat that is holy, it occurs one day a week at sunset on Friday night until sunset at the end of Saturday. This Shabbat began at Creation, when the Creator of the Universe rested on Shabbat. Who really "rested on the Seventh day" after Creation, according to most Christians? "and by him was created everything that is in heaven and on earth, all that is visible and all that is invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; everything was through him and was created by him" (Colossians 1:16). Aramaic English New Testament by Andrew Gabriel Roth. Yes, it's true that most Christians already know that MASHIYACH created all things. That's what their own Bibles say. It's VERY, very clear. We can also turn to Psalm 33:6, John 1:1-5 & Hebrews 1:1-5 and many other places. Mashiyach rested on Shabbat, but let me explain something, as you saw above I quoted from the Aramaic English New Testament for a reason. Aramaic is VERY specific because it say "by" him whereas Greek and English translations have "for" him, see the difference? In reality this is a VERY Jewish concept. Mashiyach is the Arm of YHWH. Mashiyach is everything in time and space as it relates to "the Father" who is ein sof (without end or infinite). So it's not that Y'shua the man, the soul or person who revealed "the Father" created all things, no, it's the Spirit of YHWH who is in Mashiyach as the "Arm of YHWH" who is Creator. In other words the Spirit of YHWH always existed but at a point in time YHWH extended His power into time and space and when He did so He revealed Mashiyach. Even before the angels existed Mashiyach existed. But we must not only see Mashiyach as "the person" or soul of Yeshua but as the action or interface between finite and infinite. Shabbat is also an "interface", when we "rest" on Shabbat we don't just have physical rest. Do you really believe that YHWH was tuckered out after six days of creation? Do you think he needed a break after all that heavy labour? NO, we are talking about "divine rest." Mashiyach is "divine rest" so those who can't stop what they are doing in the mundane world and enter in to Shabbat aren't very spiritual beings. The material world provides many satisfying and pleasurable things but it's all petty compared with "divine interaction" with the Ruach haKodesh. Certainly there are many who claim to have a high level of spirituality but if we can't even stop our mundane conversations and thoughts for ONE day a week and enter into Mashiyach, then how "spiritual" are we? Many Christians would rather debate theology than enter into Mashiyach, but there is a deep beauty in having a simple obedient lifestyle, setting Shabbat apart as SET APART (Holy) unto YHWH. Because there is only one day that is Kadosh, that is sanctified for REST, and we are talking DIVINE REST that cannot be manufactured by religion. For those who are not Jewish and who may be reading this, here is VERY good news for you: Thus says Yahweh, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man that does this, and the son of man that lays hold on it; that keeps the Sabbath from polluting it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil. Neither let the son of the stranger, that has joined himself to Yahweh, speak, saying, Yahweh has utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. For thus says Yahweh unto the eunuchs that keep my Sabbaths, and choose the things that please Me, and take hold of My covenant; Even unto them will I give in my house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off" (Isaiah 56:1-5). So we see clearly that Yahweh has called the stranger (ger) to join with His people and delight in His Sabbaths. This is both ancient and prophetic teaching that goes from before we arrived until Mashiyach returns and beyond. Those who are not Jewish by blood are called to enter into YHWH's Shabbat and experience the fullness of YHWH's blessings on their lives. Shabbat has always been about a relationship with YHWH and His Mashiyach, not about a doctrine or a theology about Him. If you haven't experienced Shabbat why not consider entering into this wonderful experience that is far beyond anything else on this earth. Think about what really matters. Think about what it will be like in the Kingdom of Heaven, will it really matter if people criticized and condemned you as being "Jewish" or being a "legalist" or a "Judaizer" when you have entered into Life in Mashiyach. This world as we know it is passing away and all the false religions within it are fading to black, but Mashiyach says his people will shine as bright as the stars. YHWH is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him and now is the time to experience His Divine Presence like never before. It is not necessarily how you observe Shabbat, but that your heart is soft and open to our Father in Heaven, that you would say "hineni" here I am Abba to do your will. If you've never experienced Shabbat before then please don't ask others how to do it, learn for yourself, ask YHWH Himself, pray, learn to have joy in the Father and His Son Y'shua on His Set Apart Day. Please don't go looking to religions, even like Orthodox Judaism to teach you how to pray or how to observe Shabbat or any Christian religions, just look to the Father. Shabbat is His DAY. Religion does not own the truth, religious leaders are not necessarily representing YHWH, often they make war against him because that's what people are comfortable. Nothing has changed in nearly 3,000 years when it comes to a "priesthood" forming a rebellion against YHWH. Please read Isaiah 30:9-11, Jeremiah 6:16, Malachi 1:6, if you're not sure about this. Teach me your ways. Write your Truth upon my heart. Let me experience All Your Ways that you want for me. Let my heart be open and teachable so that I will not lean on my own understanding, but lean on you. May you draw closer to YHWH and His Mashiyach Y'shua each Shabbat as you experience the Way of Messiah Y'shua. YHWH be with you, Shalom U'Vrachot, Baruch ben Daniel PS Isaiah 30:9-11 the people did not want to hear the Word of YHWH, they preferred their own religion. Jeremiah 6:16 YHWH offered His people "rest" for their souls but they refused. Malachi 1:6 YHWH says that He is a Father but that those who say they follow Him do not honour Him as a Father and those who say that He is their Master do not honour Him as The Master. The prophets speak the truth that is timeless, this is exactly what "the Church" is doing today, many are saying "LORD, LORD" but refuse to honour YHWH and keep His Commandments, the early Greek Christian Church founders made up their own commandments, which are referred to as "the commandments of men" and everyone will be judged according to whether they were obedient to YHWH or not, not by how well they kept religious traditions. http://www.mashiyach.com/holyday.htm |
